Vereker track, Wilson’s prom

Searching for wildflowers on the Vereker track on Friday 29th Sept., I came across Tall yellow-eye wildflowers in an area that I hadn’t been before. They are seeming insignificant and flower from a dark brown bud on top of a single round spike!

Tall yellow-eye
(Xyris operculata)
“the tall yellow-eye found in south eastern Australia. Seen in swampy areas, often in heathland. A tufted herb, growing up to 1 metre high. This is one of the many plants first published by Jacques Labillardière, appearing in his Novae Hollandiae Plantarum Specimen in 1805.” – Wikipedia
